At the beginning of March, it was noted that the base stations of all operators in Mariupol stopped working, four Kyivstar engineers installed the base stations independently of the equipment stored in the office.
Thanks to his efforts, a mobile network appeared that works in the city and has become the only communication channel for Mariupol residents. Also, local people were able to charge their mobile phones at Kyivstar office for a certain period of time.
The engineers remained on duty at the switchgear for a week, 24 hours a day, leaving only to find fuel for the diesel generators.

Bullets of the invaders flew into the office several times. One of them completely burned a stationary diesel generator. Later, engineers looked for a portable vehicle in the city. So the mobile connection worked again.

On March 19, the invaders destroyed the walls and ceiling of part of the office. Kyivstar employees urgently left the building, having previously deleted all important data from the key. The base station operated on remaining fuel until 21 March.
