Before flying into space, rocket passengers are asked to give up coffee and orange juice for a while. Sharon and Mark Heigly, the first married couple to fly into space on billionaire Jeff Bezos’ commercial Blue Origin rocket, told Business Insider.

Blue Origin passengers stay at the Astronaut Village campground in the Texas desert, about 15 miles from the launch site, a few days before the rocket launches.

According to Mark Heigl, they woke up around 4 am and went to breakfast. Sharon stated that Blue Origin has everything they need ready for them. “They insist you have breakfast. There must be something in your stomach”– quoted the advice of company employees.

Heigl added that the need to eat breakfast was explained to them by NASA’s recommendation that the human body works better in a weightless environment if there is food in the stomach. “We were told to stay away from orange juice and coffee because of the acid”– Added Sharon.
