Most modern Windows laptops and desktops with built-in webcams have special LED indicators that let you know the camera is on and watching you. However, some devices come without such LEDs. To increase privacy on such computers, Microsoft has created a system-wide notification that appears when the camera is turned on or off. If the LED on your laptop is no longer working or you need an extra alert, here’s how to turn on the Windows 11 hidden camera privacy indicator.

How to enable camera privacy notifications in Windows 11?

  1. click Win + R and enter regeditTo start the Windows Registry Editor. You can also use Windows search or any other method you prefer.
  2. In the registry editor, paste the following into the address bar: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OEM\Device\Capture. This command will allow you to get the required registry key without getting lost in the Windows registry.
  3. find value No Physical CameraLED and open it. If there is no such value, click ” Edit” > “New” > “DWORD » and rename the new value to: “No Physical CameraLED”.
  4. Open the value and change its value 0 (normally should one.
  5. Restart the computer.

Changing the NoPhysicalCameraLED value from 0 to 1 will cause your computer to think it has no physical indicators for camera-on scenarios, forcing the operating system to display “Camera On” and “Camera Off” notifications whenever something, internal or external, is accessed. camera. Note that changing the value does not affect the LED – it will work regardless of the value data.

If you want to turn off the Windows 11 camera privacy notification, repeat the above and change the value given in step 4 from 1 to 0.
