Elon Musk hires first PS3 hacker George Hotz: That’ll be his Twitter post 35 comments

He is best known for developing jailbreaks for the iPhone and being the first to hack the PlayStation 3. He was part of big companies like Facebook or Google and even turned down a job offer from Tesla in 2015. George Hotz signed by Elon Musk To work at Twitter. The hacker has a specific goal and a limited time to achieve it.

Since Musk took over Twitter at the end of October, he has laid off more than half of the social network’s staff while promoting a philosophy that advocates “working extremely hard” as the only option to be part of the company. Hotz seems to agree with this philosophy and even assures that:is the attitude required to build great things”.

A hacker in the ranks of Twitter

Hotz’s support for Musk’s ideas was enough to bring the businessman’s attention back to the hacker, and they came to a singular agreement: work as an intern for twelve weeks (without getting paid). Mission? Fix the Twitter search engine and remove details that might be annoying for some users, such as the box that blocks social network browsing unless signed in.

That way, Hotz will now have to divide his time between being a Twitter intern and being in charge of Comma.ai. A startup he founded in 2015 after Tesla turned down his job offer. The company offers driver assistance enhancement kits compatible with more than 200 cars for $1,999. Hotz’s most ambitious goal is to make this kit a consumer product.

As we said about Musk’s goals, a very different Twitter is going on than we know right now. Envisioning a social network with businessman encrypted messages, video calls and voice chats. Also on the map is the new Twitter Blue, which is currently discontinued and will return “when we’re sure there’s no significant impersonation.”
