Other major companies such as GM have also suspended paid advertising.
According to sources, Sony’s new image sensor capable of nearly doubling signal saturation levels per pixel compared to traditional sensors available on the market.
In practice, this means that iPhone 15 will be able to capture more lightand also reduces the chance that the smartphone will create excessively overexposed or underexposed images.
This technology is especially important in low light conditions (for example, when shooting at night) or when we have subject directly in front of a large amount of backlight.
To achieve this improvement in their image sensors, Sony invests in new semiconductor architecture, placement of photodiodes and transistors on separate substrate layers. This allows more components to be added to each layer, optimizing photodiode performance.
The new sensor, which will be present in the iPhone 15 and possibly other smartphones in 2023, will be manufactured by Sony. Exclusively at the Nagasaki plant in Japan.
Equipping an Apple smartphone would give Sony a competitive advantage, especially when compared to rivals like Samsung, which is also investing heavily in cell phone imaging technology. Surveys by the British company Omdia show that Sony ended last year with a 44% share of the sensor market versus 18.5% for Samsung.
It is expected that thanks to the contract with Apple, Sony will be able to take up to 60% of the market for CMOS image sensors for smartphones. It’s worth remembering that this is Sony’s goal since 2019, when it had 53% of the market. However, Huawei’s departure from the US was a major setback for the company.
Another point to be emphasized is that in May of this year Sony announces investment of approximately $6.5 billion in the sensor segment, demonstrating a high interest in the development of new technologies.
Despite the fact that the iPhone 14 was released not so long ago, rumors about the iPhone 15 are already in full swing. We have recently seen that Apple’s new smartphone may hit the market with a USB-C connectionproviding different speeds depending on the version.
We also saw that The Pro Max line should be replaced by the iPhone 15 Ultra, perhaps a lighter and more durable device due to the use of materials such as titanium in its construction. Read more about this rumor by clicking on this link.
