Although Android TV 13 is not primarily intended to be one of the big stars of the next Google I / O, which will take place on May 11 and 12, it may be more important than it might seem. The star will of course be Android 13, whose arrival on the market will certainly start between the end of September and the beginning of October. However, and as we have seen in previous years, Android for smartphones is the epicenter, does not mean that Google will not be surprised.
We had a great example of this last year with a big Wear OS update, exactly on Google I / O last year. Surprisingly, the general opinion is that the search engine company has decided to postpone its operating system wearable devices. With this move, we at Samsung have undergone major renovations and suspected that Google had not forgotten the rest of the device and that we would have more news about it. Now it seems that further progress in this regard could come from the hands of Android TV 13, the operating system for Smart TV and TV connection devices.
And that’s how we can read in SlashGear, after the resurrection of Wear OS and the first steps of Android L, a specific version of Android for big screen devices, now Google would be preparing something new for television, another plot in which he has recently shown limited interest. Interest in this platform could be demonstrated in Android TV 13, and this seems like a very interesting step, as it is an environment in which it already has a large presence that can be improved through improvements.

On the one hand, according to the leaks, Android TV 13 will be introduced energy efficiency improvements, thus helping to reduce the electricity bill (which is highly valued today), something to limit the scope of alerts and prevent the device from waking up when it is in sleep mode. In addition, it also restricts them when viewing content, which is very annoying on many occasions.
On the other hand, it could have Android TV 13 important improvements regarding PiP mode (Picture in Picture), a feature that has been present on Android for a long time, but so far has placed a few limitations on the developers responsible for creating applications that use this feature. For example, the aspect ratio is quite limited, but that would change in this new version.
Another novelty that could also debut on Android 13 TV is split screen modesimilar to the one we already find in the Android version for smartphones and tablets, but in this case it could be used for very interesting audiovisual purposes as soon as the developers start using it.
