American company SpaceX plans to launch the first private Japanese mission to land on the moon’s surface on Thursday, December 1, with ispace’s Hakuto-R vehicle.
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the SpaceX website.
The Falcon 9 rocket will launch from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at the Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The Rashid moon rover, developed in the UAE as part of the mission, will be delivered to the surface of the Earth satellite. Its purpose is to study the environment. The device is equipped with a thermal imager, a set of cameras and other equipment.
The road to the moon will take several months. In mid-spring 2023, Hakuto-R will reach the surface of the Earth satellite.
If successful, this mission will be the first time in history to deliver a module from a private company to the lunar surface.
Also on this mission will be NASA’s Lunar Flashlight satellite, whose mission is to search for water on the moon.
As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday, November 29, China launched its 15th Long March 2F launch vehicle with three taikonauts on board as part of the Shenzhou mission.
