US bans Kaspersky, ZTE and other tech companies due to ‘security risk’

Last Friday we United States, ten companies in the local software and telecommunications market were banned. The decision banned the sale, purchase and distribution of products imported from companies now considered a threat to the security of Americans. The direction was set by the Federal Communications Commission (Federal Communications Commission / FCC🇧🇷

OUR FCC published a list of ten Chinese companies and one Russian. Their respective products will no longer be resold in the US and transactions with named persons are also prohibited. Without further explanation, here are the names:

1. Huawei — works in the segment of network equipment;
2. ZTE — manufactures network equipment;
3. Heather – develops surveillance devices;
4. Hikvision – like the previous one, develops equipment for surveillance;
5. dahua – also develops surveillance equipment;
6. Kaspersky Lab (Russian) – known for creating anti-virus and security software;
7. China Mobile – telecommunications operator;
8. china telecom – telecommunications operator;
9. Pacific Network / ComNet — manufactures equipment for optical networks;
10. China Unicom – telecommunications operator.

Those involved pose a “security threat” according to US authorities.

The decision comes after the FCC developed rules to ban companies that allegedly pose a threat to U.S. security. A law on this issue was developed in 2021. Additional changes will be made to policies and procedures to prohibit the sale of counterfeit devices. In addition, the use of public funds to purchase listed products or services has been banned, and a program has been launched to remove machines deemed unsafe that remain installed in the country.

Agency determines additional rules which allow you to prohibit components used in other devices that also pose a security risk, and not just entire devices that are already ready and built.
