This week, Microsoft released another preview build of Windows 11, number 25252, available to Windows Insider program members on its Dev channel. One of the most notable innovations of this version of the operating system was the appearance of a VPN status monitor indicator in the system tray.
We’ve added the ability to view VPN status in the taskbar when connected to a known VPN profile. A VPN icon in the form of a small shield in the system’s highlight color will overlay the active network connection”Microsoft said in a statement.
The only change isn’t the new VPN status indicator. Developers keep experimenting with how the search is displayed in the taskbar. To change the search display style, go to options, open the Personalization menu, then select Taskbar and open the Control Panel menu. In this menu, the user can select one of the available search display options in the taskbar.
At the same time, the new version of Windows 11 has implemented some fixes for known issues. For example, the developers fixed a bug that caused explorer.exe to crash when using ALT+F4 while simultaneously opening the Show hidden icons dropdown on the taskbar. In addition to this, several other explorer.exe errors that caused taskbar performance to drop were fixed. Also solve the problem of opening folders in the “Start” menu. The full list of fixes and improvements can be found on the developers blog.
