For the first time in the world, Chinese scientists have created an ultracold triatomic gas.

For the first time in the world, a group of Chinese scientists from the University of Science and Technology has created a dense ultracold gas from ternary atomic molecules, which opens up numerous research opportunities for quantum chemistry.

As reported by Ukrinform, Xinhua reported it.

The researchers succeeded in creating an ultra-cold gas from a mixture of sodium-potassium molecules and potassium atoms.

Its temperature is stated to be extremely close to absolute zero, which is equal to -273.15 degrees Celsius.

“Chemistry is a process that can be determined mainly by quantum mechanics, but quantum effects are technically difficult to observe because the temperature of chemical reactions is relatively high. That’s why scientists have tried to slow down and cool these particles to get a clear view of the rules behind our universe at the micro level.”

According to the researchers, the next experimental challenge is the preparation and control of ultracold gases from triatomic molecules with greater degrees of freedom.

It is stated that these results may find applications in quantum information processing and quantum precision measurement in the future.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Institute of Physics, part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has developed a prototype refrigerator that provides ultra-low temperatures close to absolute zero.
