According to MacRumors, a Chinese engineer has released a video of a modified iMac 2021 computer. The main difference between the modification and the original is the absence of a high subframe.
According to the enthusiast, Apple took inspiration from the 2002 iMac G4 when creating its own version of the computer. But instead of moving the main part of the iron from the subframe to the stand, he chose to move the important components to the back of the computer. This decision was made to “shrink” the bezel of the screen and the front panel of the device as much as possible.
To achieve his goal, the engineer took the iMac apart, 3D printed a new case, then placed all the parts inside and installed an additional cooling system. Also, the enthusiast returned the glowing Apple logo to the computer.
The original 24-inch iMac based on the M1 chip was introduced in May 2021. Computers received a large-scale redesign, keeping their long subframes.
