Twitter CEO Elon Musk said in a two-hour Twitter Spaces chat today that Apple has “completely reinvented” advertising on the social network Twitter. Bloomberg. Musk also confirmed that Apple is Twitter’s biggest advertiser.

Just five days ago, Musk accused Apple of hating “freedom of speech”, “demands of moderation” and curtailing advertising spending, sparking a media frenzy over a possible feud between Apple and Twitter. Musk has publicly announced that Apple has “mostly stopped” advertising on Twitter, and has also threatened to “not allow Twitter to access the App Store.”

Then, two days after these announcements, Musk met with Apple CEO Tim Cook and reversed course. After the meeting, Musk said there was a “misunderstanding” about Twitter possibly being removed from the ‌App Store‌, and Cook said it was “clear that Apple never thought about it.”

Musk said that Cook showed him around Apple Park and they had a “good talk” that apparently led to Apple continuing their Twitter ads. Apple did not confirm that it stopped advertising spending on Twitter, nor did it say anything about Musk’s statements today. Following the Twitter Space controversy, Musk tweeted to “thank the advertisers for coming back to Twitter.” Apple is consistently one of Twitter’s top advertisers, with over $100 million in ad spend per year.
