The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed part of the Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) in the constellation Tucana.
This was reported by the observatory, Ukrinform reports.
The SMC is a dwarf galaxy and one of the Milky Way’s closest neighbors, located about 200,000 light-years from Earth.
It pairs up with the Large Magellanic Cloud, and both objects are visible from the Southern Hemisphere as well as some northern latitudes.
The Small Magellanic Cloud contains hundreds of millions of stars, but this image focuses on only a small fraction of them.
These stars form the diffuse star cluster NGC 376, which has a total mass of about 3,400 times that of the Sun.
As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the DEM L 190 supernova remnant.
