According to Esper chief expert Mishaal Rahman, Google will significantly reduce the time it takes to install updates on its Pixel series smartphones. The tech giant has significantly reduced installation times by introducing new fixes for the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Mishaal Rahman noted that it took 13 minutes instead of 23 minutes to install the 2.2GB OTA update on the Pixel 6 Pro.

Google first rolled out seamless updates for Android with Android 7.0 Nougat in 2016. The first smartphones to get this feature were the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. How it works is simple: Pixel phones install OTA updates on the inactive part of the device in the background. However, you can continue to use your smartphone until the installation is complete. After that, the user will be asked to restart the phone. Now the company has also reduced the amount of additional storage required for smooth updates from Android 13.
