Google is sending another project to its digital graveyard. However, not completely. It’s about Duplex on the Web artificial intelligence. Duplex itself will continue to exist, in which case Google will shut down the web version. It was released in 2019 as an add-on to the original version of Duplex.

Duplex on the Web initially focused on a few specific use cases, including opening a movie theater chain’s website to fill in all the necessary information on behalf of the user. But the project was then trained to work with passwords, helping users pay for electronics retailers, check-in for flights on airline websites, and automatically find discounts, in addition to helping users automatically replace exposures in the event of a data breach.

At the same time, from the very beginning, Duplex on the Web developed rather slowly, and now Google has decided to abandon this aspect of its artificial intelligence. Perhaps the decision was made on the basis that the development of this project was too resource-intensive against the background of the results. Duplex on the Web will be shut down by the end of the year in the coming weeks.

We will remind you that the original version of AI Duplex was shown in 2018. Because artificial intelligence can speak naturally even then, many thematic media described it as very creepy and frightening.
