Microsoft to increase game prices in 2023

Portal IGN reports that Microsoft’s gaming division is preparing to pursue other major publishers (including Sony, Ubisoft, Take-Two) to increase the price of their flagship projects from $60 to $70. Starting in 2023, exclusive Xbox Series X and S games from in-house studios, including racing simulator Forza Motorsport, cooperative shooter Redfall, and space RPG Starfield, will cost $70 at launch.

“The price reflects the content, scale, and technological complexity of these projects. As with all of our Xbox teams’ games, they will be available on Game Pass from launch day.”– Assured the Microsoft representative.

In October, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer warned that Xbox might not be able to keep console, game and subscription prices forever, but don’t expect price hikes over the New Year holidays. Microsoft has now declined to comment on the possible price increase of the Xbox Series X and S from IGN. Sony has already raised the price of the PlayStation 5, and Nintendo does not rule out the possibility of a price increase for the Switch in the distant future.
