The American company Apple is exploring the possibility of partially transferring iPad tablet production from China to India in connection with the deterioration of relations between the United States and the People’s Republic of China and the disruption of supply chains due to China’s anti-covid measures. This is reported by CNBC, citing sources.
According to the TV channel, Apple is in consultation with Indian authorities on this issue, but has no concrete plans yet to turn over production.
Additionally, according to sources, there is a shortage of highly skilled professionals and workers in India who have sufficient experience in creating technically complex devices like the iPad. This could slow the company’s process of expanding its presence in the country.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that the American company Apple has accelerated its plans to transfer some of its production outside of China in recent weeks.
The company is asking suppliers to plan to more actively assemble their products in other Asian countries, particularly India and Vietnam, and is also trying to reduce reliance on Taiwanese assemblers led by Foxconn Technology Group.
