Continuous scrolling has been taking hold on the internet for a year now, and now it seems that Google is also getting in on the trend. You might not know it from the name, but you must have come across continuous scrolling websites on many occasions, as they are all those that are made up of lists of results/links, where when you reach the end of a certain amount of the same, many more are automatically loaded , which will increase the vertical displacement (offset) of the page based on jumps and more jumps. In some cases, such as Twitter, continuous scrolling is automatic, in others, such as MuyComputer search results and pages by content type (such as the news page), the user has control over continuous scrolling. , when deciding whether or not to load more results.
This way of representing access to listings (be it search results, content types, images and/or videos, etc.) provides faster access to information than when results are displayed by pages, but on the other hand, in the case of continuous automatic scrolling prevents access to information in the footer of a website, which can be very frustrating if you want to access it for any reason (for example, to view legal terms or contact information that is usually found in that location). That’s why I personally prefer non-automatic continuous scrolling a thousand times.
Starting today, we’re bringing smooth scrolling to the English desktop in the US so you can continue to easily see more search results. When you reach the bottom of the search results page, you will now be able to see up to six pages of results. pic.twitter.com/xIuVP24FFm

Be that as it may, the strange thing is that neither Google nor Bing, the two main search engines, have continuous scrolling, although that is probably where this type of design is best suited. DuckDuckGo has an advantage in this regard as it offers continuous manual scrolling with a button to load more results at the end of each block. But that will change since then, as we can read in the Google account On Twitter, Google now offers automatic continuous scrolling in English search results for the United States. You can see how it works in the gif embedded in the tweet above this paragraph.
The fact that Google has finally decided to go with continuous scrolling seems like a great achievement to me, although I admit that I would prefer it not to be automatic, but manual, as DuckDuckGo offers. However, having all search results within the reach of the mouse wheel is a very convenient measure and will undoubtedly affect the visibility of many results that have been “hidden” until now on the second and subsequent pages of search results.
This will be a real revolution for web positioning (SEO) professionals, because the disappearance of page two and the following with the transition to continuous scrolling ends with a barrier that is usually a big problem for them. It is true that the battle is still about “sneaking” between the best results, but with this change the difference between tenth and eleventh place is blurred, providing new and very interesting possibilities.
