The European Commission announced the allocation of 13.5 billion euros in funding under the Horizon Europe research and innovation program for 2023-2024, which enables the research of advanced technologies as well as measures for further technological and economic development of the EU. “The European Commission today adopted the Horizon Europe main work program for 2023-2024, with funding of approximately €13.5 billion, to support researchers in Europe to achieve breakthrough solutions in solving environmental protection, energy, digital development and geopolitical challenges. .. This Financing will also make it possible to take targeted actions to support Ukraine, strengthen economic stability and achieve sustainable recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.”
As the European Commission has stated, the targeted assistance to Ukraine will be provided in addition to measures that include €70m in financing launched in 2022. The new measures will relate to ensuring Ukrainian scientists’ access to European research infrastructure, maintaining targeted medical support to Ukrainian scientists, as well as the climate-neutral reconstruction of many Ukrainian cities. -Climate neutral and “smart” cities are called EU Mission.
