Earlier in March, WaBetaInfo (one of WhatsApp’s most prolific leakers) announced that WhatsApp was working on surveys. As we saw in one of its most recent betas, the function was already in development and today finally, we were able to see how the interface would be.
The capture accompanying this text comes from WaBetaInfo and was obtained from: WhatsApp beta for iOS, version 22.0.0.70. Surveys are still in development, so there may be some changes (if any) when they are released, but with what we have we can get a pretty good idea of what to expect.
Where are we eating this weekend?
Interface for creating polls in WhatsApp.
As far as we can see in the screenshots of WaBetaInfo, the function is create polls from the app itself to post to groups. We can put the question followed by some text with different options. We don’t know if there is a limit or if we can put as many options as we want.
Surveys will be very helpful. make group decisions without flooding the chat with messages. For example, they can be used to decide on a meeting place or to confirm who goes (and who doesn’t) to a particular event. Much more comfortable than creating a Doodle or making a “copy and paste message” with our name under each option.
Questionnaire published in the WhatsApp group.
WaBetaInfo, when we tick the option and vote, our decision is shared with other participants, Although it is not clear whether it is possible to look at who voted for each option. What can be expected is end-to-end encryption of polls, options and votes like messages.
And that’s all we know so far. The functionality still has a long way to go, and while it’s true that the app is in beta, not yet available for any user. We’ll have to wait and it doesn’t seem like that much.
