The US Army’s Operational Capabilities and Critical Technologies Command received the first Typhon battery to launch Tomahawk cruise missiles from a ground installation. Lockheed Martin Corporation reported this.

The Mid-Range Capability (MRC) battery, also known as the Typhon system, is said to include launchers, missiles and a command center designed to counter ground-based threats.

“Lockheed Martin’s investment in modern engineering processes and digital transformation has enabled the company to quickly scale its Aegis command and control capabilities and Mark 41 vertical launch system to meet the military’s long-range firepower needs.”– Indicated in the message of the institution.

According to Lieutenant General Robert Rush, director of the US Army’s Office of Operational Capabilities and Critical Technologies, the creation of the MRC system began in July 2020 and is already complete.
