Chinese researchers have developed a non-contact electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring method that does not require electrode application or clothing removal.

This was reported by Xinhua, which Ukrinform reported.

Current ECG monitoring methods that require the use of electrodes create certain inconveniences for patients.

Researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China have developed a millimeter-range radar system for non-contact measurement of the mechanical activity of the heart and ECG recovery.

Scientists have proposed a set of signal processing algorithms to extract 4-dimensional heart movements from radio frequency signals.

The results of the experiments proved that the non-contact ECG measurements achieved the accuracy of determining the timing of cardiac electrical events with an average error of less than 14 milliseconds, while the accuracy of the morphological media reached 90%.
