AVM has started the deployment of FRITZ!OS 7.50 in Spain. This is the latest update to its well-known Linux-based operating system and brings important new features that will generally improve the user experience. This update is rolling out gradually and is currently only available for the FRITZ!Box 7590, but the well-known German manufacturer has confirmed that it will reach other products in the coming monthsSo keep calm and be patient.

To update to FRITZ!OS 7.50, simply search for updates via the user interface of our FRITZ!Box. That’s what we’re going to do “System > Update > Search for new FRITZ!OS”. If we have automatic updates enabled, this new version should already appear as available for installation. The process is automatic, so you can rest easy you won’t have any problem.

The new FRITZ!OS 7.50 operating system improves the performance of our Wi-Fi Mesh network thanks to dynamic smart repetition. If we use FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Box as a Mesh repeater, we will have more performance and more stability, because both Wi-Fi bands will be used to achieve an optimal connection.

This update also has enhanced its home automation features with smart automation. Using the FRITZ!App Smart Home, FRITZ!Fon or FRITZ!DECT 440, we can activate various settings with a simple gesture. So, for example, if we use the “Arrival at home” command, all radiator thermostats will automatically adjust to the defined comfort temperature and we can turn on the connected lamps and lights.

We can too create routines for when specific scenarios occur. Let’s look at it with another example, if the humidity measured by the FRITZ!DECT 440 reaches a certain threshold, the “Ventilation” scenario can be used, and the same can be applied to other scenarios in which a very low level is detected. In these cases, the heating would be activated at the appropriate temperature.

Another interesting novelty came to FRITZ!Fon, which now learned to speak thanks to the “Voice” ringtone function. With this new phone feature will inform us by voice about calls and entries in the agenda. If someone calls us, it will tell us who is calling us and alert us to other important notifications. As for unwanted calls, we can block them directly or send them to voicemail.

The VPN protocol with WireGuard It represents a significant improvement in terms of safety. To configure it, we just need to scan the QR code and that’s it, it will be activated automatically. Thanks to it, we will have fast and convenient access to our local network on the go, we will enjoy a secure connection when working from home, and we will be able to use it without problems with the latest versions of Android and iOS.

AVM also took advantage of the FRITZ!OS 7.50 release improve the interface of the operating system, which now has a cleaner look and its texts are easier to read.
