British broadcaster Sky News has revealed the details of the project to create the sixth generation Tempest fighter. In addition to the UK, Japan and Italy are also participating in the project. On 9 December, Rishi Sunak visited the Royal Air Force base in Lincolnshire. The Prime Minister initiated the first phase of the project after examining the typhoon warplanes.

Sky News reporters note that the development of the newest fighter will cost the project participants dearly. Over the next ten years, they will have to invest more than a billion dollars in the creation of Tempest. The newest aircraft will receive the latest technologies such as:

  • Autonomous control mode.
  • Data toning systems.
  • Advanced avionics.

The pilot’s helmet will be able to follow the direction of his gaze. He will also understand sign language. The on-board computer will be able to automatically determine the fatigue, overload and psychological state of the person sitting behind the wheel. If the pilot loses control of the plane, artificial intelligence will take over.

Engineers involved in the project will try to make Storm completely invisible to enemy radars. According to PwC’s estimate, the sixth-generation fighter development project will create 21,000 jobs. From its implementation, the UK economy will receive more than £26 billion by 2050. Source
