In line with the annual appointment in December, although a few days later than expected, the new Xiaomi 13 smartphones were presented in China and will be available on the international market in the first quarter of 2023. Xiaomi 13 is coming two initial versions (maybe more will arrive in the future, like “Lite” or “Ultra”), a base with a screen and flat edges, and a PRO version with a curved design and more powerful cameras.
The Chinese firm is firmly committed to starting with the basic version 6.36-inch OLED display, Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and a surprisingly high maximum brightness of 1900 nits. Its engine is the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the most advanced in Qualcomm’s mobile chipsets for the first part of 2023. This version will offer different configurations of RAM and storage up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 and integrated storage of up to 512 GB.
Xiaomi continues to work with the specialist Leica for its camera system, highlighting a 50-megapixel main camera with optical stabilization along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens. There is a 32-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies.
Under the hood is a 4500mAh battery that allows for 67W wired charging, 50W wireless and 10W reverse charging. The series launches software, namely the MIUI 14 user interface designed for Android 13. It will be available in different colors (green, white, black or blue) with a price that starts at 3,999 yuan in China, $570 to replace.
The most advanced version increases the level of the screen with a panel 6.73-inch curved OLED and a native resolution of 3200 x 1400 pixels. Its internal configuration is the same as the base model, SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Its frame is also curved, IP68 certified against dust and water, and its back panel can be made of ceramic or synthetic leather.
The camera system is also improved with a huge Sony signature main sensor (1 inch) with a resolution of 50 megapixels. The ultra-wide lens is also 50MP, as is the optically stabilized telephoto lens with a maximum zoom of 70x. The front is the same, 32 MP.
The battery is bigger (4820mAh) and supports 120W fast charging as well as wireless. The terminal with the interface MIUI 14 and Android 13, colored in white, black, green or blue, costs 4,999 yuan in China, approx. 720 dollars. We don’t believe Xiaomi will take too long to announce its new high-end smartphones for the international market. There we will find out the official prices (certainly higher than the Chinese ones), colors and configurations.
