More than a year ago, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, decided to conduct an experiment and use the iPhone, which caused a wave of anger among some fans of the Chinese manufacturer. But the head of the company assured that this is a necessary experience – he described it at his December presentation, where the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro were presented.

At the event, Lei Jun posed a rhetorical question to the audience about how Xiaomi could be successful in producing high-end smartphones if it lacks the courage and determination to compare its devices with the iPhone. He also emphasized that reviewing the iPhone is the beginning of learning from a competitor and there is a chance to surpass it in the future, so a thorough analysis of both software and firmware is required.

Emphasizing that Xiaomi has apparently already learned from its American rival, Lei Jun added that there are currently only two high-end smartphone manufacturers producing its flagship in two sizes: Apple and Xiaomi. According to him, developing two smartphones is not so easy: you have to configure two screens, invest twice as much.

In the end, Lei Jun concluded that the new Xiaomi 13 is a direct competitor to the iPhone 14, and the Xiaomi 13 Pro is an alternative to the iPhone 14 Pro.
