Latency in the application difficult Manifesto V3read the new version of the “terms” that will govern Chromium extensions and derivative browsers, read virtually all except Firefox, although even that will partially adopt them, they continue to happen, and Microsoft Edge has confirmed that it will do the same , following the example of Chrome.
This morning we talked about the Microsoft browser due to its withdrawal of support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, something on the other hand praised and in which it will also continue in the position marked by the king of the segment Chrome and here is the same about the same, although the basic situation is very different .
As we remind you from time to time, Manifest V3 is made up of a set of new APIs designed to improve browser performance, though not in all cases. One of these APIs will be in charge of limiting an extension’s access to browser resources, such as the number of rules that can be applied to each extension, among other things.
The main effect of the new specification and the reason why it has been surrounded by controversy since its proposal is bypass ad blocking extensionswhich Google – primarily responsible for the development of Chromium and the company that has the most publicity and therefore the most interests on the web – denies it and considers it an unwanted side effect.
The point is that the changes Manifest V3 brings are mostly beneficial to the point that Firefox will adopt them without affecting the use of ad blockers. Of course, Firefox can afford it. The ones that can’t seem to afford the choice are the Chromium derivativesbecause this is not just a code tweak, but a complex feature in the very foundation of the browser.

Thus, the only browser derived from Chrome that will not be affected by the change is Brave, although even that is not available, at least for now, to ensure that the Chrome Store extension, developed by millions of users around the world, will continue to function as so far.
And precisely the most delicate aspect, such as restriction of type extensions adblock, that doesn’t make much sense considering that Brave’s anti-tracking and ad system is built into the browser and is the most powerful available. It is surpassed by the popular uBlock, and not in everything.
Coming back to the news that concerns us, and based on a decision made by Google, which is not the first time, there have been several accumulated delays with strange excuses, but with the growing opposition from third parties, Microsoft Edge will do exactly the same… since he has no other, it should be added.
In fact, Microsoft Edge is the only Chromium derivative that never went against Manifesto V3. All in all, the fact that “adblocks” will stop working in Chromium in 2023 is going to the fridge, at least until 2024. We’ll see what happens then.
