LG has announced the launch of two unique LG UltraGear series computer monitors that stand out by using an OLED panel that boosts the refresh rate up to 240 Hz. The monitor market already offers the same or higher refresh rate, but these are the first models on the planet with an OLED screen to achieve this value.
Specially designed for the demanding PC gaming market, LG is launching the range in two models with different sizes, both adding high refresh rates with OLED display quality.
The first of the announced models mounts a 27-inch OLED panel with native resolution 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels), with a mentioned refresh rate of 240 Hz and a minimum response time of 0.03 ms. It offers a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, supports HDR10 and covers 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
It has two HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 1.4 inputs, as well as a USB hub with one upstream and two downstream ports. Its ergonomic base has height, tilt, swivel and rotation adjustments. It will be on display at CES 2023 and will have an estimated price $1,000.
With this second model, which offers a gigantic diagonal, LG raises the bar even higher 45 incheswith an OLED panel curved at a curvature ratio of 800R and a wide-angle format that increases the native resolution to WQHD for 3440 x 1440 pixels. It maintains an impressive 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time and 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio.
It has the same connectivity features as its younger brother, with two HDMI 2.1 inputs, Display Port 1.4 and a USB hub with one upstream and two downstream ports. Its ergonomic base has height, tilt and swivel adjustments. It can also be seen at the Las Vegas trade show and is priced at $1,500.
Both models feature full support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium image synchronization technologies, ensuring a smooth response no matter what graphics card you have or what game you’re playing. They’re not cheap, but the 240Hz refresh rate plus the picture quality, black levels and high contrast of OLED, should offer a great gaming experience.
