The Netflix streaming service lost 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter and expects to lose another 2 million users in the current second quarter.

According to Ukrinform, Variety reports.

It was recorded that the total number of subscribers decreased to 221.64 million.

This is the first time Netflix has lost subscribers in the last 10 years. This subscriber exit in the company is associated with inflation, fierce competition in the market and the occupation of Russian troops in Ukraine.

Netflix said the platform will add 500,000 subscribers in the first quarter, excluding the loss of subscribers in Russia, where the service has stalled after the war in Ukraine.

Previously, the streaming service predicted 2.5 million new paid subscribers in the first quarter, and Wall Street analysts expected Netflix to add 2.8 million new subscribers worldwide.

As Ukrinform reported, on February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation launched a war without reason against Ukraine. The invaders are bombing and shelling peaceful towns and villages in Ukraine, torturing and killing civilians.

Hundreds of world-famous companies stopped working in Russia, showing that they would not finance the state that started the war in Ukraine.
