US President Joe Biden’s administration plans to blacklist Yangtze Memory Technologies and more than 30 Chinese companies this week, which would prohibit US entities from trading with these companies.

It was noted that US companies will be prohibited from selling technology to listed companies unless they have special export licenses.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a briefing on Wednesday that the United States is “politicizing and weaponizing economic cooperation.” He added that Washington’s actions are disrupting supply chains. According to him, China will take measures to protect the rights of its companies.
In October, the Biden administration published an extensive list of restrictions on China’s ability to purchase semiconductors and chip-making equipment, putting Yangtze Memory and other companies on the list for further scrutiny.
Also, the US Department of Commerce added 31 Chinese companies, including YMTC, to its list of so-called unconfirmed importers of American products (Unverified List, UVL). Within 60 days, companies had to prove that their activities did not threaten US national security.
Wuhan-based Yangtze Memory, Samsung Electronics Co. The firm was in talks to procure Apple Inc., an important step for China’s tech industry, but the talks were shelved.
