Apple has expanded support for the Emergency SOS satellite feature outside of North America. This is reported on the company’s website.

Representatives of the company welcomed the launch of the satellite communications function in other regions. “Innovative technology available on all iPhone 14 models allows users to send messages to emergency services outside of cellular and Wi-Fi coverage”says message.

The Emergency SOS feature will work on smartphones of iPhone 14 users in the UK, France, Germany and Ireland. “Emergency SOS makes emergency satellite communications more accessible, which is very important.”– pointed out Gary Machado, executive director of the European Emergency Numbers Association.

Emergency SOS allows new Apple smartphone owners to contact loved ones or emergency services in case of lack of mobile signal. The cost of subscribing to the service was not disclosed, but the company promised that access to the function will be free for two years from the moment the iPhone is purchased.
