ONEXPLAYER 2, the portable beast returns

Before we start talking about the ONEXPLAYER 2, it’s best to give a little context, because although it is highly regarded by its connoisseurs (and even more so by its users), the truth is that we are talking about a device that is completely unknown to the general public, and we are talking about a device that it won’t leave you indifferent, with spectacular features, a very fine-tuned design, and yes, a price to match all of the above.

Announced in May last year, the One Xplayer became an instant hit with advertising campaigns. crowdfunding, as the project was funded through Indiegogo, where it managed to collect one million dollars right after the launch of the campaign, which originally intended to reach 200,000 Hong Kong dollars, or about 24,215 euros according to the current exchange rate. The campaign ended with the collection of at least 1,947,450 euros, which testifies to the enormous interest it aroused from the beginning.

It’s interesting to consider the dates because when this One Xplayer funding campaign started, there were still two months left before the official announcement of the Steam Deck, which, along with the Nintendo Switch, are the two platforms that share the portable console market, leaving relatively little room for other initiatives in this regard, like the latest Logitech G, designed with cloud gaming in mind.

Now, with a much more vibrant market thanks to the success of the Steam Deck, the One has hit the road again, by announcing ONEXPLAYER 2, the next generation of its portable console which, how could it be otherwise, holds its own in terms of specifications, design… and yes, what you were afraid of, also the price, although the truth is that its technical specifications, the ones we know so far, justify it .

Let’s start with a review of its exterior, in which the screen stands out 8.4-inch Full-HD IPS with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, a leap in size from the Steam Deck and Logitech G, both with seven-inch screens. As you can see in the pictures, it also has controls on both sides, but the interesting thing is that these are removable. But the most interesting part is not, the remarkable thing is that we can use them together with the included adapter to turn them into a wireless controller, which is quite genius.

Once inside, we see that they didn’t skimp on One-Netbook Technology either, so the ONEXPLAYER 2 is powered by AMD Ryzen 7 6800U APU eight cores, which integrates the Radeon 680M graphics adapter (twelve cores). will accompany 16 or 32 gigabytes of RAM and in terms of storage capacity, it repeats the configuration of its predecessor, p 512 gigabytes, one and two terabytes, PCIe M.2 2280 in all cases. In terms of sound, it’s Harman certified, so it’s sure to be top-notch.

This entire set will be powered by a battery no smaller than 65.5 watt hoursthat is, about a capacity similar to those found in many laptops that can be charged to 50% in 40 minutes.

Like the One Xplayer, the ONEXPLAYER 2 can be purchased through an Indiegogo campaign starting on December 20th, with prices starting at 899 dollars.
