American Apple Corporation plans to abandon the lease for its Russian office in the Romanov Dvor business center next to the Kremlin. As reported by Ukrinform, RBC reports
As reported by Ukrinform, RBC reports this with reference to two sources in the commercial real estate market.
CORE.XP consultancy company announced to the publication that Apple has rented 3.5 thousand square meters for the first time. 5 years ago, it increased the area to 4.7 thousand square meters and then to 4.7 thousand square meters in the aforementioned business center. According to one of RBC’s interlocutors, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, this office was not fully used.
After the partial mobilization was announced in Russia in September, it was decided to terminate the lease. Another source said the company is currently negotiating terms of termination of the contract.
Earlier, at the end of September, sources of the Vedomosti newspaper reported that Apple took most of its Russian office workers to Kyrgyzstan, with some going to Dubai and London.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Apple, along with other foreign electronics manufacturers, stopped supplying to Russia. Among other things, the company has limited Apple Pay’s operation in Russia.
Yulia Bashmarina, head of corporate customer service at CORE.XP, told RBC that the share of vacant buildings in Moscow’s most expensive business centers has increased from 3.9% to 23.9% due to the departure of foreign companies.
