Channel 24 has brought together the most interesting new features and improvements in iOS 16.2. Here are iMessage updates, Always-on Display improvements and new widgets. Also, the company has optimized the operating system.
What’s new in iOS 16.2
- A widget that shows sleep data on the lock screen.
- Two Medication widgets on the lock screen.
- News in the “Weather” app.
- Freeform is a new collaborative workspace for iPhone, iPad and Mac. The versatile endless canvas can be used for notes, file sharing, annotating, sketching and drawing.
- Matter protocol for working with smart home devices from different manufacturers.
- In iMessage, you can now search for content by content using the @ symbol.
- Ability to turn off wallpaper and messages on Always On Display.
- Change the appearance of notifications in the “Notification Center” curtain.
- Fix animation lag on iPhone 14 Pro.
- Fix exiting camera to lock screen.
- The entire iPhone 14 smartphone series has an optimized traffic accident detection function.
- Game Center now supports multiplayer multiplayer games during a FaceTime call.
- The Sing feature in Apple Music. A fully customizable vocal section lets you duet with an artist or solo and combine both options. The lyrics fit the rhythm perfectly to make it easy to sing together.
- A new type of over-the-air updates are iOS Security Response fast security patches, which are distributed separately from “issue” versions of iOS.
- Advanced data encryption in iCloud. Now End-to-end encryption protects device backups and iMessages, iCloud Drive files, notes, photos, reminders, voice memos, Safari bookmarks, Siri shortcuts, and Wallet data.
Additionally, Apple has fixed several vulnerabilities, the details of which the company has not disclosed.
There’s also bad news. In addition to new features and fixes, iOS 16.2 introduces two limitations. First, AirDrop’s timer to turn on “everyone” visibility is now limited to 10 minutes. Second, owners of recently purchased iPhones cannot activate the new iCloud encryption features. The smartphone tells users that this feature will be available in a few months at the latest. Maybe it’s just an insect.
