Recently, Xiaomi introduced MIUI 14, its latest Android 13-based interface in China, with a simplified design and new features. One of the most important advantages of the software is the new photon engine, which is claimed to accelerate third-party applications. During the initial testing phase, the company limited this feature to a limited number of smartphones. However, it has now been confirmed that all devices running MIUI 14 will support the photon engine. Details are here.

Xiaomi recently took to Weibo to confirm that all models updated to MIUI 14 now support photon technology. The company says that due to the need for in-depth software and hardware coordination, as well as a large number of adjustments to the system architecture, it will be implemented gradually, en masse, to the respective smartphones.

During the announcement, the firm revealed that the photon engine runs on the underlying Android kernel, which is accessible to third-party app developers. This allows developers to optimize their apps and increase download speeds. It is claimed to increase the speed of third-party applications by 88%. In addition, this feature will reduce the power consumption of applications by up to 16%.

Other key features of MIUI 14 include folders with large customizable icons and new options for widgets of different shapes and sizes, automatic compression for rarely used apps, and a toggle to turn off persistent notifications. In addition, MIUI 14 has been improved with MIUI Interconnection, which speeds up headphone detection by 50%, mobile TV connection by 13% and video streaming by 77%.

The latest version of MIUI has not yet been announced for users worldwide. We can expect the software to debut with a few leaks soon. Stay tuned for updates.
