The Apple-1 circuit board sold at auction for over $442,000. Not only is the circuit board fully functional, it is hand-numbered by Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.
The Apple-1 circuit board sold at auction for over $442,000. Not only is the circuit board fully functional, it is hand-numbered by Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs. The initial estimate for the auction board sold by RR Auction on Dec. 15 was $375,000, but the final figure was well above that figure.
The batch, which was brought up and running by Apple-1 expert Corey Cohen in 2018, was manually tagged by Jobs with the inventory number 01-00002. The condition of the card was rated 8.5 out of 10 by Cohen, performing flawlessly during extensive testing and was listed at number 78 in the Apple-1 registry.
The motherboard came with an original Apple-1 user manual, an Apple cassette interface, two original ACI manuals, a period surplus ASCII keyboard, a Sanyo 4205 “open frame” video monitor, a new period style power supply. Apple-1 power cord and an ’em’ as well as cassette interface cables.
At the same science and technology auction, a NeXT brochure by Steve Jobs sold for $18,210, and the first production NeXT Computer from 1988 sold for $6,094. An Auburn University football by Tim Cook brought in $5,681.
