The Chinese company Xiaomi has shown that the smartphone remains functional and can be used safely during a storm. The video was posted on YouTube.

For the first test, the company’s specialists opened Tesla’s current-emitting mini-installation. A Xiaomi 12S smartphone is placed nearby with a video clip. Despite numerous discharges throughout the body of the device, the smartphone continued to work without any flaws.

In the second phase of the experiment, a call was made to the smartphone using a cellular connection. The current continued to hit the body of the device, but the device accepted the call and was ready for use.

Xiaomi said that lightning does not affect the device and does not attract them to itself. Experts added that this is because lightning is a low-frequency phenomenon and the smartphone works at high frequencies. The company concluded that since lightning strikes, voltage fluctuations occur in the electrical grid, which may cause problems with equipment connected to the network.
