ISTANBUL (IGFA) – Internet Explorer, an Internet browser developed by Microsoft, was first offered to users on August 16, 1995.

Internet Explorer, which once held a large share of the browser market because it was built into Windows, later lost its blood in the competition as browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Opera became popular.

Microsoft, which only supports Internet Explorer 11 since January 12, 2016, has discontinued support for all versions as of June 15.

On February 14, 2023, Microsoft announced that it will be disabling Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 10. Users are redirected to the Microsoft Edge browser.

INTERNET EXPLORER HISTORY

As will be remembered, Internet Explorer, which came standard with Microsoft Windows on old computers, held a large share of the browser market because it was integrated into Windows.

With Windows Vista, the name was changed to Windows Internet Explorer. At that time, only a security patch was released by Microsoft. As of January 12, 2016, Internet Explorer 11 is officially supported by consumers only. On April 16, 2019, the latest revised version of Internet Explorer was released for Windows Server 2012 and Windows Embedded 8 Standard.

Microsoft announced on May 20, 2021 that full support for Internet Explorer would be discontinued on June 15, 2022, followed by Microsoft Edge with IE mode for legacy sites.

As announced, Internet Explorer was discontinued by Microsoft on June 15, 2022.
