Intel Core i9-13900KS will be next top processor of the chip giant to the general consumer market. It hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, but thanks to the leaks that have been going on for the past few weeks, we have a pretty clear idea of what to expect from this new chip.
We know it will retain the Intel Core i9-13900K specs, which means it will have 8 cores of P (high performance) based on the Raptor Cove as architecture 16 E-cores (high efficiency) based on the Gracemont architecture. The difference that the Intel Core i9-13900KS will make compared to the previous one will be determined by the operating frequencies, since the latter will have a more aggressive turbo mode that will allow it to reach 6 GHz frequency.
If we compare it with the Intel Core i9-12900KS, the difference is significant because it had a turbo mode capable of reaching 5.5 GHz. Intel Core i9-13900KS will have peak 500 MHz plus frequency, although I imagine that it will only be able to achieve it with two active threads and that this speed will decrease depending on the total load on the cores and threads. Also keep in mind that higher frequency means higher consumption.

In terms of performance, thanks to the leak we could see that the Intel Core i9-13900KS would reach a peak of 2,366 points in the Cinebench R23 single-thread test and a score of 40,998 in the multi-threaded test. For comparison purposes, the Ryzen 9 7950X achieves a maximum peak of 2,057 points and 39,689 points in the same tests, meaning that the new Intel chip will be up to 15% faster on a single thread than an AMD chip and 3.3% faster on multi-threads.
It’s not a big difference, but it’s enough for Intel to strengthen its market position. The company should have no problem keeping the single-threaded performance crown (it’s hotly contested in multithreading, as the Ryzen 9 7950X is very competitive with its 16 cores and 32 threads), but it could lose it in gaming when AMD releases a new one. . Ryzen 7000X3D, which will follow in the footsteps of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D and come with a 3D stacked cache.
We still don’t know the price of the Intel Core i9-13900KS or the official launch date, but it will most likely be presented at CES in 2023 and hit the market January 12 with a price of 100 to 200 euros higher than the Intel Core i9-13900K.
