Samsung will launch a portable computer with a flexible display. This was reported by Korean publication SamMobile.
Media reporters cited a report by Korean publication The Elec, which states that Samsung Display plans to market 8.5 million OLED panels for laptops by 2023. Most of the components are expected to be provided by Asus, and the rest by Samsung’s MX division, which develops Galaxy series devices.
In this context, the authors assumed that the Korean company will present its first laptop with a foldable screen in 2023. The device will have a 17.3 inch OLED display. When the panel is folded, it will consist of two halves, each 13.3 inches. According to experts, one half can be used as a screen and the other half as a touch keyboard.
The authors also noted the market’s interest in flexible panels. So, in 2020, Samsung Display produced 960 thousand OLED screens for laptops, in 2021 – 5 million units, in 2022 – about 6 million units.
