Just yesterday our colleague David told us that Microsoft is looking at new ways to use advertising to offer services at a lower price, and we saw that this could lead to cheap game passan alternative to the classic model that would have lower costs in exchange for serving ads to users, and today we have a much clearer idea of exactly how it could work.
Ads would be displayed in this cheap Game Pass in a controlled manner so as not to destroy the user experience. How exactly the announcements will be implemented has yet to be specified, but today we had the chance to learn that the Redmond company is considering other options, and they could even agree to a further price cut.
The first option to make this cheap Game Pass would be the one we already told you about, include advertising. The second option would pass they do not include advertising and focus on certain restrictions this would ultimately make it remain in a worse position compared to the standard modality. Among the most important constraints that a company would consider is the possibility delay the arrival of Xbox exclusive games by up to 6 months.
Both options can be used separately, but also jointly offer the cheap Game Pass. The result would be a modality that would have to cost much less than the version to be attractive because, as we have seen, it would have two important flaws, announcements and delays in receiving new exclusive Xbox titles. Despite these two limitations, I think it could be a very interesting option if the price was adjusted, as it would ultimately allow us to play many games for just a few euros a month.
For Microsoft, this new cheap Game Pass makes sense because of the subscription rate of the standard service slowed down noticeably after peaking at 25 million subscribers, And because, after all, there is a significant user base that the Redmond giant could reach with this option. At this point, though, it’s inevitable to wonder how much a cheap Game Pass should cost.
Taking into account that the price of the standard Game Pass is 9.99 euros, I think that this cheap Game Pass with advertising should be about half that, and if Microsoft considers including other restrictions, such as delaying the arrival of Xbox exclusive games, the price would should have been even lower. Plan 4 or 5 euros it could be a real treat, although we have to put up with ads and other restrictions, because after all we would have access to hundreds of games for very little money.
