Ubisoft explains its plans for Stadia

Just yesterday, we told you that Ubisoft surprisingly started giving Stadia users free copies of games they purchased through Google’s cloud gaming service. This process took place to the surprise of users as they did not receive any communication from Ubisoft, which also did not release any information in this regard. Games suddenly appeared on Ubisoft+.

Fortunately, a gala developer has finally published its policy in this regard and with a few exceptions, it is true that its position is positively remarkable, because instead of looking the other way (as many distributors have done), it is actively working to ensure that users who have been affected by the closure of Stadia can still continue to use titles purchased from Google.

And it is because his approach is as simple as it is surprising: users will receive compensation from Stadia and games in Ubisoft +, all for free. To do this, they will simply need to link their Stadia and Ubisoft accounts from Google (this is something that is recommended to be done as soon as possible, and of course always before January 18, when the service is closed). This way, Ubisoft will already have the necessary information to add games to your Ubisoft+ user account.

Ubisoft explains its plans for Stadia

Ubisoft points out that yes, the funds users have in games will not be transferred, so they recommend that they use said funds for in-game purchases, as digital assets will be transferred as well as game saves. And in this regard, the company also specifies that this option will be available in all cross-platform games that support cross-save between them, but not in those that do not.

As I said, there are some exceptions to this policy, and that, according to what we can read in the article published by Ubisoft, there are several games whose digital assets will not be transferred from Stadia to Ubisoft+, they are the following :

  • Family quarrel
  • Just Dance 2020
  • Just Dance 2021
  • Just Dance 2022
  • Trivial Pursuit Live! 2

And when it comes to game versions, the developers report that users will get the same ones they purchased on Stadia, or if that’s not possible, premium versions of the titles.

Undoubtedly, the developer made a very intelligent and very beneficial step for users. The second point needs no explanation, and as for the first, it allows them to keep these players active and also especially happy with the company, because despite the closure of the service, they will be able to continue to enjoy the games they bought, with the addition that after receiving a refund have 100% legal and 100% free.
