In New York, a scheme of Russian hackers has surfaced, giving taxi drivers $ 10 “pass” to the destinations of passengers at the terminals of John F. Kennedy International Airport.

As reported by Ukrinform, The New York Times reported it.

According to federal prosecutors, the plan involved two men from the Queens area, Daniel Abaev and Peter Leiman, who extorted money from taxi drivers and transferred it to Russia.

Hackers managed to hack into the electronic system of the taxi dispatch service at Kennedy International Airport, killing the queue by “admitting” taxi drivers to the terminals for $10 in a separate parking lot.

On Tuesday, Manhattan federal prosecutor Damian Williams and New York Port Authority and New Jersey Inspector General John Gay announced the indictments against Abayev and Layman.

The indictment states that the plan, implemented since 2019, “enables up to 1,000 fraudulent fast taxi rides per day.”
