Elon Musk to step down as Twitter CEO after finding ‘dumb enough’ replacement

Elon Musk will step down as CEO of Twitter when “find a suitable replacement, someone stupid enough to accept the position”, He wrote billionaire on social media tonight.

A script change prompted by a poll where Musk asked users if he should relinquish executive responsibility. He promised to make it binding and the majority told him to leave. And it seems that he will recognize the result and keep the promise, albeit with certain “buts”. In any case, with or without the survey, there are not a few investors and relevant personalities who have asked him to resign if he does not want to sink the platform for good.

He wanted the CEO of Twitter

It will not be simple. After a chaotic few weeks of bad press and the layoff of a large part of the workforce, it may be difficult to attract high-quality candidates for the role. But Elon Musk has set the bar so low that a simple facelift at the top of the management ladder could do a lot to improve Twitter’s image in the short term.

Of course, there is a possibility that it does the change is mostly cosmetic. Musk tweeted that he plans to stay on and lead the software and server teams. And there is no indication that he plans to sell the company he bought in October. No one is going to get back the $44,000 million paid, and once the company is removed from the stock markets, it can basically do whatever it wants because it doesn’t have to answer to investors. It’s clear he plans to stay with the company, but it’s not clear for how long.

Regardless of who takes over as CEO of Twitter, will have to take over an almost unrecognizable company compared to just a few months. About 70 percent of their employees have been laid off or resigned, meaning a loss of talent. Advertisers fled the platform as hate speech, trolling and the lack of the “democracy” that Musk bragged about when he took office continued to thrive.

It was not a good sign to restore Donald Trump while excluding wayward journalists, blocking connections to other networks and banning tweets critical of ‘God Musk’ management. On the other hand, content moderation and security efforts have completely ceased. The strategy with Twitter Blue (one of the platform’s main monetization features) has been messy, and the company is also facing increasing government pressure on several fronts.

And while rivals continue to grow. Especially the mastodon. It’s not a direct replacement for its quirks, and it’s nowhere near Twitter’s user base, but it went from 300,000 to two and a half million users in a single month. Elon Musk was a disaster as CEO of Twitter. Any new face at the head of executive management will be welcomedbut a lot needs to be done for microblogging sites to return to their prime.
