The new PS5 controller has less autonomy than the original DualSense

DualSense Edge is the name Sony has given to the new PS5 controller, a “deluxe” model that stands well above the original in terms of both build quality and performance, although it doesn’t seem to be able to top it in all respects, as it said: command has clearly less autonomy to the original.

This information was provided by The Verge had the opportunity to test the new PS5 controller. He didn’t have enough time to do the autonomy test, meaning they barely enjoyed the command for a few hours. I don’t really understand why, but we imagine that Sony will have its reasons, and it was the company itself that confirmed that its autonomy will be less.

According to Sony, “the operating time of the DualSense Edge is slightly smaller than the original.” According to the Japanese company, this is because it contains more functions than the previous one, because both ergonomics and design have been preserved. The definition that the Japanese company gave is too general, and the fact that it did not want to talk about specific numbers certainly does not smell.

It is important to note the standard DualSense he already had autonomy, which was not very good, It is a disservice to realize that the new PS5 controller, a model whose price exceeds 200 euros, offers less autonomy than the original. We’ll see what it all is and whether or not the difference matters when we get the numbers on the table.

Another major issue is that, according to the source, the DualSense Edge uses the same type of analog sticks as the original model, and these have been targeted for “drift” issues on more than one occasion. Lights and shadows that shouldn’t be there in an order that, as I have already said, will cost more than 200 euros in the Spanish market.

Sony hasn’t announced official pricing yet, but we do know that the price of this new PS5 controller will be $200 in the United States, so in Spain, after taxes and currency conversion, it should be around 229 euros including VAT. Sony could of course round down and keep it at €199 or up and put it in the €249 range.
