Users of Samsung Galaxy devices, especially the S22 and S21, that have installed the Android 13 update have noticed that they are having problems logging into Microsoft’s Intune. The Redmond giant acknowledged the problem and said it could be fixed. Microsoft has announced that a system reboot will be required to automatically install the required updated Android Device Policy app. If rebooting doesn’t work, users can also manually install the package from the Google Play Store and then restore the system.
Microsoft writes:
We were recently informed of an issue where Samsung devices were unable to register as a personal work profile on Android 13. Users may see a dialog stating that the profile could not be created. S21 and S22 devices are confirmed to be affected, but other models may be affected. We’re working with our friends at Samsung and Google who are releasing fixes.
To fix the problem, we recommend that administrators tell users to reboot the device. The Android Device Policy app will load on signup, but won’t change the user experience. If rebooting doesn’t fix the problem, ask your users to set Android Device Policy manually from Google Play Store, then reboot the system and restart the registration process.
Samsung provided more details on the issue:
On S22 devices running Android 13, users cannot complete registration when creating a work profile for Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) services. Attempting to complete the registration results in an error:
Can't setup device. Contact your IT admin for help.
After that an error message appears:
Unable to create Work Profile.
Provided server-side fix. To fix the problem, restart your device before signing up. If the problem persists after reboot, install Android Device Policy app from Google Play Store before proceeding with registration. You can find the official blog post here.
