China’s GalaxySpace is accelerating the research and development of flat-panel satellites that can be launched in large numbers to quickly create a constellation of satellite Internet.
As reported by Ukrinform, Xinhua reported it.
GalaxySpace said this design allows dozens of satellites to be stacked on top of each other like personal tablets and launched into orbit simultaneously on a single launch vehicle.
This can significantly increase the efficiency of using a launch vehicle and reduce the time it takes to create a satellite Internet constellation in space.
Additionally, each satellite can carry a flexible solar wing that is small, lightweight and modular to help save mass and launch costs.
If all goes as planned, the company expects the first launches of these superimposed satellites to take place next year.
As reported by Ukrinform, China’s new experimental satellite was launched on Friday with the help of the Changzheng-11 (“Big Hike-11”) launch vehicle.
