Microsoft will add tabs to the Notepad app. This has been reported by Neowin.

Media reporters pointed out that an image of the new tabbed version of the text editor was shared by one of the company employees on Twitter. Moments later, the author deleted the tweet – after all, Microsoft was not allowed to make such information public.

According to experts, the tabs that will appear in “Notepad” will function the same as the tabs in “Explorer”. Users are expected to be able to work in a single window, switching between multiple text files.

Microsoft has not previously commented on the appearance of the new functionality. Journalists assumed that the company was testing this option. Participants of the beta testing program will likely be the first to access it before 2023. Then the function will appear for all Windows users.

Notepad is a text editor that is part of Windows operating systems. The program appeared in the operating system from Microsoft in 1985.
