Since the beginning of the year, the Security Service of Ukraine has neutralized more than 4,500 cyber attacks against Ukraine.
As reported by Ukrinform, SBU reported this on Telegram.
“We came to 2022 leaving behind 8 years of experience in the field of hybrid warfare. After all, the war in cyberspace has been going on before. During the occupation, we were prepared for worst-case scenarios. The major cyberattacks we repulsed in January and February became additional “education” before the invasion,” said Ilya Vityuk, head of the SBU’s Cybersecurity Department.
According to him, with the onset of full-scale aggression, the work has become much more. If in 2020 about 800 cyber attacks were registered, then in 2021 – 1,400, then already this year – their number has increased more than 3 times.
“Today the aggressor country carries out an average of more than 10 cyberattacks per day. “The Ukrainian society is fortunately not even aware of the majority,” said Vytyuk.
He also reported that energy, logistics, military facilities, as well as databases and information resources of the authorities are in the enemy’s special interest.
“We monitor risks and threats 24/7 in real time. We know most of the hackers from the Russian special services working for us by name. Work is underway to document them. After the victory of Ukraine, a separate meeting block of the international military tribunal will await them.” said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russia is accompanying missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities with powerful cyberattacks to cause maximum “blackout”.
