In 2022, the South Korean company Samsung retained its share of smartphone sales and the status of the main competitor of the American Apple, but the leadership is still in the iPhone manufacturer. This is stated in a new report by Counterpoint Research.
According to experts, in 2022, Apple retained its leadership in revenue from smartphone sales. While the American company even increased its share, Samsung managed to maintain the status quo unlike other vendors.
Counterpoint Research said that Apple increased its share from 37.1% to 42%, despite a 3% year-over-year decline in total mobile device sales. Samsung, on the other hand, had a share of 18.5% in the third quarter of 2021 and 18.3% this year.
According to the researchers, in total sales volume, phones supporting the 5G communication standard accounted for 46% of shipments this quarter, a new record.
